The Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) has collected more than half a million pesos from violators in Iloilo City’s Traffic Discipline Zone (TDZ).

Jeck Conlu, PSTMO head, said 2,483 traffic violations were committed within the TDZ in Mandurriao district from Jan. 16 to Feb. 16, 2020.

Apprehended violators, composed of motorists and pedestrians, were fined a total of P683, 900.

Conlu said most of the violations involved illegal parking, obstruction, disregarding traffic signs, jaywalking, and counter flow.

The TDZ comprises the 14-kilometer stretch of the Senator Benigno Aquino Avenue (Diversion Road). It is manned by traffic enforcers 24/7.

Meanwhile, Conlu appealed to everyone to obey traffic rules and regulations at all times.

“Our goal is to create new generations of law-abiding drivers and commuters in the city. Let us follow the laws for our safety and comfort,” he said.IMT
