A total of 83 houses were affected by the fire that hit a residential area in Barangay Rizal Pala-Pala Zone 2, Iloilo City on Saturday morning, April 29.

Based on data from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP-6), 63 houses were totally burned while 20 were partially damaged.

According to Fire Chief Superintendent Jerry Candido, BFP regional director, the blaze reached the fourth alarm.

The fire, which displaced more than 107 families or 384 individuals, destroyed P2.3 million worth of properties, according to BFP-6.

Three people were injured in the fire. They were identified as Shayne Meryl Omilig, 20; Denfield Tormon, 30; and Joseph Flores, 43.

The fire, based on initial investigation, was caused by an unattended lighted candle inside the house of Margarita Corea.IMT
