In a bid to make Iloilo City safer and more resilient, more than 300 closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras will be installed throughout the metropolis.
Aside from crime-prone areas in the city, the CCTV cameras also cover intersections that are prone to accidents for a quicker response.
“We will have eyes everywhere indi lang sa mga plazas, but also sa mga intersections nga pirmi lang may binunggoanay, sa mga areas nga daw may mga street crimes like pickpocketing kag sa iban pa nga lugar,” said Treñas.
The initial number of cameras is part of the system of the state-of-the-art Iloilo City Action and Response (ICARE) command center in Mandurriao district.
The facility is expected to be completed and operational by the third quarter of the year.
The city mayor also shared that tycoon Andrew Tan of property developer Megaworld Corp extended P20 million worth of assistance through the National Resilience Council of the city’s command center.
“It will for the needed systems. Ang National Resilience Council amo na ang ma procure sang mga systems nga kinanglanon sa command system,” said Treñas.
Through a centralized emergency operation center and its satellites, the city government aims to establish an integrated response network based in every district that brings safety services closer to the people, according to Donna Magno, head of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).
ICARE centers are designed to cater calls for emergency assistance that may include trauma cases, vehicular accidents, and even for the transport of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients, among other medical emergencies.IMT
