The number of persons under monitoring (PUMs) for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the city and province of Iloilo reached more than a thousand.
The Department of Health (DOH-6), as of March 16, 2020, recorded 1,042 PUMs in Iloilo province and 230 in Iloilo City.
PUMs are “those who do not exhibit symptoms but with history of travel and exposure to COVID-19 cases.”
Iloilo province posted the second highest number of PUMs in Western Visayas.
The province of Aklan occupied the top spot with 1,137 PUMs.
Negros Occidental (554) and Antique (244) came in third and fourth, respectively.
Iloilo City ranked fifth, followed by Capiz, 237; Bacolod City, 122; and Guimaras, 107.
All in all, the region posted 3,673 PUMs.
On the other hand, the number of patients under investigation (PUIs) for the deadly disease in Iloilo now stands at 12.
Based on data from the DOT-6, five PUIs are currently admitted in different hospitals and one is an outpatient in the province while one is being admitted and five are outpatients in the city.
PUIs are those who manifest symptoms of COVID-19 like fever, dry cough, and shortness of breathe.
Other suspected COVID-19 cases are in Aklan (7), Antique (1), Capiz (1), Guimaras (2) and Negros Occidental (4).
These PUIs have pending results of confirmatory tests.IMT
