Two overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from the towns of Oton and Miagao in Iloilo province tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). 

They are among the eight new COVID-19 patients in Western Visayas reported by the Department of Health (DOH-6) on Thursday, June 18.

The 44-year-old male resident of Oton and the 25-year-old male resident of Miagao are both asymptomatic or have not manifested any symptom of the dreaded disease, according to Dr. Marie Jocelyn Te, DOH-6 spokesperson.

The two are currently staying in their towns’ respective quarantine facilities.

The six other new cases in the region are the following:

▪38-year-old female from Bacolod City
▪30-year-old male from Hinigaran, Negros Occidental
▪37-year-old male from Bacolod City
▪40-year-old male from Bacolod City
▪38-year-old female from Bacolod City
▪35-year-old male from Bacolod City

There are now a total of 164 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Western Visayas.

The DOH-6 also recorded three new survivors of the disease, bringing the total recoveries in the region to 106. 

The additional recoveries are as follows:

▪37-year-old male from Bacolod City
▪35-year-old male from Bacolod City
▪38-year-old male from Bacolod City
