The government is ready to help the people especially in these times, according to Office of Civil Defense Director Jose Roberto Nuñez, who is also the chair of the Regional Risk Reduction and Management Council.

“The government has always been that way,” stressed the OCD and RDRRMC official as he emerged from the council’s Response Cluster meeting held, March 19, at the PNP PRO6 headquarters at Camp Delgado here to address the COVID-19 threat.

He also advised the public to always obtain information and updates from official sources in order not to be misled by fake news.

It will be recalled that the Philippine Information Agency has been sharing government advisories for people to rely on information from the Department of Health when it comes to the COVID-19 issue. Another official source cited is the World Health Organization (WHO).

Nuñez said the RDRRMC response cluster meeting served as venue to look into measures and resources of concerned member-agencies and make their actions coordinated or interoperable.

Prior to the meeting, the cluster also convened to draw up a contingency plan as to measures needed to respond to the needs and concerns of the public in the midst of the situation arising from the COVID-19 threat.

Representatives from private sector volunteer groups also attended the activity.PIA-6
