The effects of the oil price hikes have not been significantly felt in basic necessities and prime commodities in Iloilo and other areas in Western Visayas.
According to Department of Trade and Industry (DTI-6) director Rebecca Rascon, oil price movements are yet to be reflected in their latest monitoring report.
“Sa subong, based sa resulta sang monitoring for Iloilo, waay pa man [significant] nga hulag [as compared to] to the January 27 SRP (suggested retail price) [list] nga ginsumiter naton,” she said in an interview on IMT Conversations.
There were only slight increases in prices of, among others, milk, sugar, vinegar, and soy sauce.
Prices of gasoline, diesel and kerosene in the country have been rising since the start of the year due to the steady increase in the cost of petroleum products in the international market.Lene Geneka Tabucanon/IMT
