Mayor Jerry Treñas is not considering the enforcement of lockdowns despite an uptick in COVID-19 cases in Iloilo City.
The city government, Treñas stressed, can no longer afford to impose another lockdown, especially on the entire metropolis.
According to the mayor, the city will lose its momentum in recovering from COVID-19 pandemic if strict restrictions are reimposed.
The City Health Office (CHO) logged 51 new cases of COVID-19 in the first 15 days of April this year.
As of April 17, the city has 86 active cases, data from the Department of Health (DOH-6) showed.
Meanwhile, Treñas urged the public to wear face masks and observe other health protocols to thwart the spread of the infection.
Last month, the mayor and his wife tested positive for COVID-19.IMT
