The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-6) discontinued the distribution of educational cash grants due to insufficient funds.

The cancellation of payouts scheduled on Sept. 17 and Sept. 24 was announced by the regional office on Wednesday night, Sept. 14.

“Ginapahibalo sang DSWD Field Office VI nga WALA sang pagahiwaton nga payout para sa Educational Assistance sa masunod nga duha ka Sabado, September 17, 2022 kag September 24, 2022,” the DSWD-6 said.

The regional office has no more available funds for the cash aid program, which aims to help indigent students all over the country with their school expenses.

“Nag-sumite naman ang amon opisina sang proposal para sa dugang nga pondo halin sa DSWD Central Office apang tubtob subong, wala sang may ginhatag nga dugang nga pondo,” it said.

“Kami sa DSWD FO VI padayon sa pagserbisyo sa inyo sa pagpatuman sang iban nga programa sang amon ahensya. Salamat sa inyo paghangop,” the regional office added.

According to DSWD-6 information officer Atty. May Rago-Castillo, a total of P101.326 million was used to provide financial aid to 8,311 elementary pupils; 6,799 junior high school students; 4,667 senior high school students; and 16,354 college and vocational courses students.

Iloilo province, including Iloilo City, had the most number of beneficiaries at 11,686; followed by Negros Occidental, including Bacolod City, 10,256; Capiz, 4,186; Antique, 3,809; Aklan, 3,965, and Guimaras, 2,229.IMT
