There is no discrepancy in the number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines that were delivered to Iloilo City, according to the Department of Health (DOH-6).
In her letter addressed to City Mayor Jerry Treñas, DOH-6 Regional Director Emilia Monicimpo said as of June 22, they have sent 84, 616 vaccine doses to the city.
“As of date (June 22), 63,176 doses of Sinovac and 21,440 AstraZeneca were allocated to Iloilo City,” she noted.
According to Monicimpo, 66,544 doses were given directly to the City Health Office (CHO) while 18,072 were distributed to government and private hospitals in the city.
The regional director said it’s the responsibility of the city’s Local Vaccine Operations Center (LVOC) “to oversee all the implementing units such as hospitals, clinics, government agencies and rural health units.”
“As such, all activities of the implementing units shall be monitored by the LVOC to ensure timely and appropriate implementation of the vaccine.”
Monicimpo assured that the DOH-6 is in close coordination with the members of the city’s LVOC through the CHO.
“We are your partner for the efficient and effective delivery of COVID-19 vaccines in the city,” she stressed.
Monicimpo’s letter was in response to a query raised by Treñas.
The mayor sought an explanation from the DOH-6 regarding the vaccine allocation and distribution in the city.
“We have only received 66,544 doses of vaccines but DOH reported that they sent 84,224 doses. The lacking 17,680 (doses are) very important in protecting more lives,” said Treñas.
The figures were based on the June 20 report by the DOH-6.IMT
