Online and face-to-face classes in Iloilo City are suspended on Saturday, Jan. 21 and Monday next week, Jan. 23, “in view of the celebration of the 2023 Dinagyang Festival.”
The class suspension, according to Executive Order No. 008, covers all levels in both public and private schools.
“The crowds in various performance areas and parade routes have been estimates at over 30,000 calling for the closure of major city roads,” the EO stated.
“In the interest of students, motorists and constituents who may be undeniably affected by the lack of vehicles as a result of road closure for for the Dinagyang Festival, suspension of classes across all levels is warranted,” it further stated.
The EO was issued by Mayor Jerry Treñas on Monday, Jan. 16.IMT
