Western Visayas set a new record for the highest single-day increase in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases.
The Department of Health (DOH-6) reported on Thursday, April 15, 486 new confirmed cases of COVID-19.
Majority of the additional infections came from Negros Occidental with 288.
Bacolod City accounted for 81 new cases followed by Iloilo province, 40; Capiz, 30; Antique, 19; Iloilo City, 13; Aklan, 12; and Guimaras 1.
These new cases brought the region’s total case count to 31,296.
The DOH-6 also registered 103 new recoveries and 11 new deaths.
The total number of patients who recovered from the disease in the region increased to 26,428, while the death toll rose to 824. IMT
