In a bid to speed up the implementation of infrastructure projects in Iloilo City, the city government created the Office of City Architect (OCA).

Mayor Jerry Treñas designated architect Regina Gregorio to head to the new office, which will prioritize city government-funded projects.

“I didn’t expect it but I am honored because being appointed to this position I was able to gain trust and confidence for myself and I hope I live up for that challenge,” said Gregorio.

“I am looking at building a team of skilled staff to beef up our technical capabilities to support in the crafting of projects,” she added.

Among the projects handled by OCA is the state-of-the-art five-story Iloilo City Action and Response (ICARE) Center at Gaisano township along Diversion Road in Mandurriao district, including its eight satellites in strategic areas.

ICARE is a centralized facility for emergency response, pooling the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Public Safety and Transportation Management Office, police and fire stations for faster action.

OCA is also looking for solutions to decongest traffic and planning to improve facilities, furnish multi-purpose gyms and upgrade school buildings in the city.IMT
