A lawyer from the town of Sara is the new general manager of the Iloilo Electric Cooperative (ILECO III).
Atty. James G. Balsomo officially assumed the post on June 16. He replaced Consorcia B. Penaranda.
He vowed to use his “talents, skills, abilities and gifts” to provide their consumers with efficient services.
Balsomo said he aims to bring ILECO III closer to its goals and mission which is to energize all houses and business establishments within its area of coverage.
Prior to his stint at the electric cooperative and installment as its top official, Balsomo served in various government offices, agencies, and departments.
“All have made me more prepared for the job of general manager in managing the organization and in establishing close linkages and cooperation with various agencies and sectors,” he said.
Balsomo graduated magna cum laude from West Visayas State University (WVSU) with an AB Political Science degree.
He pursued his law studies at the University of Iloilo where he graduated cum laude.
“My knowledge of law and management principles in my academic preparations undoubtedly will be a great help for me, considering that power industry is considered as a highly regulated industry,” he said.
For Iloilo Fifth District Representative Raul “Boboy” Tupas, Balsomo is highly qualified for the position because of his administrative experience, mild demeanor, legal prowess, and managerial competence.
“With full support and in partnership with our Congressional Office and LGUs, we will continue and strive to address the concerns of the 124,000-member consumer owners and maintain the Triple A rating of this mega large electric cooperative being a major partner in the development of Northern Iloilo,” he said.
ILECO III’s franchise area covers 13 towns with at least 87 thousand households.IMT
