The Department of Health (DOH-6) has noted a “slowly” declining trend of new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Western Visayas (WV).
According to Dr. Bea Camille Natalaray, DOH-6 medical officer IV, the whole WV is now classified as low risk for COVID-19, citing the region’s medium-risk average daily attack rate (ADAR) and low-risk two-week growth rate (TWGR).
The region’s ADAR — or the rate of infection per 100,000 of the population — in the last two weeks was at 6.15 percent with a TWGR of -7.74 percent.
The figures were lower compared to the previous weeks’ 7.74 percent ADAR with a TWGR of -7.51 percent.
Natalaray said Iloilo City is the only area in the region classified as high risk.
Aklan and Bacolod City are considered moderate risk while the rest of the region is low risk.
WV’s health care utilization rate (HCUR) also showed a slow downward trend but remained at moderate at 64. 15 percent.
The bed utilization rate was at 63.54 percent while its mechanical ventilators utilization rate was at 70.89 percent.
The HCUR in Iloilo City and Capiz province was high while in Antique province was moderate.
Meanwhile, Natalaray said the positivity rate in the region continued to increase from July 4 to 11, 2021, from 8.7 percent to 9 percent.
WV logged an average of 644 cases daily this month, higher than 633 in June and 371 in May.
As of July 11, WV has a total of 73, 091 confirmed COVID-19 cases, of which 58,871 have recovered, 1,653 habe died and 11, 452 are active cases.IMT
