Negrense student-athletes wrapped up the 2019 Batang Pinoy National Finals with impressive finishes in various sports held in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Sept. 1.
Taekwondo athletes from Bacolod City collected seven medals in both Poomsae and Kyorugi events. The Poomsae events are comprised of basic attack and defense motions associated with the martial art; while kyorugi events are demonstration of sparring.
Winning the lone gold, Andee Rodriguez led the team in the kyorugi event after ruling the junior female finweight category. Miguel Zapata captured silver in the cadet male finweight division while Arielle Beronio snatched another silver in the cadet female featherweight category.
Multi-titlist Jamie Hannah Agaloos won two silvers in poomsae events, dominating the junior female individual category and junior female mixed team alongside Ma. Charlize Subardiaga and Lexine Lapu-os.
Arthur Diaz won bronze in the junior male individual division and junior mixed pair with Lapu-os. Paulaine Miyu Kalaw also won gold in the 8-9 year old advanced kata competition. Karateka presents specific movement patterns and choreography.IMT
