Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said he will “most likely” support the presidential and vice presidential candidates of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) for the 2022 elections.
This, as he disclosed that there’s no decision yet made by NPC members in the province as to whom they will support in the presidential and vice presidential race.
The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) set the filing of Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) for all elective positions for the May 9, 2022 National and Local Elections from October 1 to 8 this year.
Lacson is a member of NPC whose chairman is Senate President Vicente Sotto III, who already declared to run for vice president next year.
Sotto’s running mate as presidential candidate is Senator Panfilo Lacson of Partido Reporma.
Lacson, meanwhile, clarified that he did not sign a manifesto of the League of Provinces of the Philippines that expressed support for the tandem of Senator Bong Go and President Rodrigo Duterte for the national polls.
Go and Duterte were picked by the Cusi-led Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) as its presidential and vice presidential candidates, respectively.IMT
