Guimaras Governor Rahman Nava slammed the move of the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA-6) to ban “all types of bicycles” from motor boats.
In a radio interview, Nava said the provincial government was not informed of this new policy by the maritime regulator.
“Ambot kun nakaintindi man ni sila sang maayo nga pangdala sang gobyerno nga kuntani may ara man sang koordinasyon para may padulungan kita nga isa lang ka direksyon,” the governor lamented.
The ban, based on a notice released by the Jordan Motor Banca Cooperative, started on Thursday, Sept. 22.
Nava said he will ask Congresswoman Lucille Nava, his wife, to raise the issue during the deliberation of the proposed Department of Transportation (DOTr) budget for 2023 on Tuesday, Sept. 27.
“If we cannot resolve it in the local level, we will ask Cong. Lucille (Nava) to raise this issue during the budget deliberation, and to defer MARINA’s budget if necessary.”
MARINA is one the DOTr’s attached agencies.
In a facebook post, Vice Governor John Edward Gado said he will take up the issue with the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod in their meeting on Monday.
