A motorcycle rider died after his vehicle accidentally bumped into a car along the national highway in Barangay Aripdip, San Rafael, Iloilo on Sunday, September 12.
The victim was identified as Mark Angelo Jorge Hoyvia, 23, single, and a resident of Estancia, Iloilo. He was riding his black Yamaha YZF-R15 B1C6.
On the other hand, the driver of the MG Sedan car was identified as Romar Silva, 35, married, and a resident of Barangay Rizal Estansuela in Iloilo City.
According to Police Lieutenant Mary Jane Panes, San Rafael Municipal Police Station officer in-charge, Hoyvia was driving at top speed and when he reached the curve portion of the road, he overshot the center and hit the car plying the opposite lane.
“Madasig ini ang pagpadalagan sang motor that is why paglab-ot ya sa may curve nga bahin sang highway naglapaw siya sa center lang sa dalan, amo to nga may sugata siya nga salakyan kag didto siya nagbunggo,” said panes.
Hoyvia, who suffered fatal injuries, was rushed to the Gov. Niel D Tupas Sr. District Hospital in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo where he was declared dead on arrival.
The car driver was unharmed and voluntarily submitted himself to the police station for investigation.
“Indi detained ang driver ka Sedan diri because voluntarily nagsubmit ka self ya for investigation,” Panes told IMT NEWS.
The motorcycle had scratches on the right fender and clutch lever while the car incurred damages. The two vehicles have been placed under San Rafael MPS’ custody for proper disposition while further investigation is ongoing.
