The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB-6) has allowed more provincial jeepneys to ply Megaworld Boulevard in Mandurriao district, Iloilo City.

Jeck Conlu, head of the city government’s Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO), said the LTFRB-6 approved the request of three transport associations.

These associations are comprised of jeepney drivers and operators from the towns of Oton, Leganes, and Sta. Barbara.

Conlu said the route extension would benefit especially those who are working in Iloilo Business Park (IBP).

IBP is owned by Megaworld. It is home to world-class hotels, luxury residential condominiums, and state-of-the-art BPO office towers.

The 72-hectare township also houses a lifestyle mall, a contemporary art museum, transportation hubs, the Iloilo Convention Center (ICC) and the Festive Walk Parade, a 1.1- kilometer dining and nightlife strip.

The transportation hubs caters to, among others, point-to-point (P2P) buses going to and from the Iloilo International Airport in Cabatuan town, Caticlan Airport, and Kalibo Airport.

Conlu said there are other transport associations that applied for route extension.

The existing jeepneys plying the area are those from the town of San Miguel.IMT
