More Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) is pouring in an additional P1.1 billion for its 2022-2025 modernization plan.
This raises the Razon-led power firm’s investment in Iloilo City to P3 billion from an initial amount of P1.9 billion.
MORE Power, the sole power distributor in Iloilo City, started its operation in 2020.
Roel Z. Castro, MORE Power president, said the additional amount is “much needed to modernize and upgrade the power distribution and services” in the city.
The three-year plan includes the installation of more substations in the districts of Mandurriao, specifically at Megaworld’s Iloilo Business Park (IBP), and Arevalo.
MORE Power will also purchase another mobile substation. The first one was fully energized in December 2020.
Castro said the new substations are intended to address the growing power demand in the city.
The power distributor will also connect all substations and feeders for looping and develop Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems for the digital monitoring of all its facilities.
“These and more are geared for reliable, stable and efficient distribution of quality power to encourage more businesses and for a progressive Iloilo City,” said Castro.
The initial amount released by MORE Power was spent, among others, for the rehabilitation of facilities from the previous power distributor in the city to give the consumers better services.
It reconditioned power transformers of five substations; repaired damaged posts, power lines, and electric meters; and purchased additional distribution transformers.IMT
