More areas in Iloilo have been placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 as Tropical Storm Auring moved closer to land.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) raised on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 21, Signal No. 1 over Iloilo City, and the northern and central portions of Iloilo province.
The province’s northern and central portions are comprised of Carles, Balasan, Estancia, Batad, San Dionisio, Sara, Concepcion, Lemery, Ajuy, San Rafael, Passi City, Bingawan, Calinog, Lambunao, Duenas, San Enrique, Dingle, Anilao, Banate Janiuay, Badiangan, Pototan, Barotac Nuevo, Dumangas, Mina, Maasin, Alimodian, Leon, Tigbauan, Oton, Pavia, San Miguel, Cabatuan, Santa Barbara, New Lucena, Zarraga, Leganes, and Barotac Viejo.
The state weather bureau also hoisted Signal No. 1 over Capiz, Guimaras, and the eastern portion of Aklan.
These areas will experience moderate to heavy rains this Sunday, Feb. 21, and up to Monday morning, Feb. 22.
Auring, based on PAGASA’s 5 p.m. bulletin, was seen 285 kilometers east-northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, packing winds of up to 65 kilometers per hour, and gustiness of up to 80 kph.IMT
