Face-to-face classes in all levels in both public and private schools in Iloilo City are suspended on Monday, July 17, due to bad weather.

The suspension of classes was recommended by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO). 

In a statement, Mayor Jerry Treñas said he approved the recommendation to “ensure the safety and general welfare of the children and the residents.

“City hall flag ceremony is cancelled; and the use of biometrics is waived in consideration of those employees affected by the flooding in different areas within the city,” he added.

According to the Emergency Operations Center, the city “will continue to experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms on Monday.”

“Light to moderate with at times heavy rains are expected due to the Southwest Monsoon enhanced by Tropical Storm Talim (int’l name: Dodong), there is up to 35% chance of a 10-20mm rainfall accumulation for tomorrow, and a 7% chance of rainfall above 25 mm,” it said.

As of 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 16, 20 barangays in the city experienced flooding.IMT
