The Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board (RTWPB-6) has approved wage increases for workers in Western Visayas.

Based on Order No. RBVI-26, the daily minimum wage in the region is set at P450 from P395 for establishments employing more than 10 workers.

For businesses with 10 workers or less, the daily minimum wage is set at P420 from P310.

The RTWPB-6 also increased the minimum monthly pay of “kasambahays” or domestic helpers from 4,000 to 4,500.

The increases will benefit 214,836 minimum wage earners in the private sector and 160,795 domestic helpers in the region.

The last salary increase for the private sector workers and domestic helpers in the region was implemented in 2019.

Lawyer Sixto Rodriguez, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-6) director, said the increases are subject for review by the National Wage Productivity Commission (NWPC).

He is positive that the NWPC will approve the increase, which are expected to take effect in June this year.IMT
