A boat captain of MV Milagrosa 3 succumbed to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Jeck Conlu, Iloilo City COVID-19 Team spokesperson, said 17 of the 29 crew members tested positive for the deadly disease.
The infected workers are currently quarantined in the vessel docked in Lapuz district.
Conlu said contact tracing efforts are underway for those who have been in close contact with the COVID-19 patients.
The office of Milagrosa-J Shipping Corporation in Barangay Lapuz Norte was temporarily closed.
Trips between Iloilo and Palawan were also suspended.IMT
