The province and city of Iloilo will remain under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ), the lowest form of community quarantine implemented by the government.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque announced the extension of MGCQ in Iloilo until July 31 during a briefing in Malacañang on Wednesday night, July 15.
On Wednesday afternoon, Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. issued an executive order “extending, ad interim, the enforcement of MGCQ over the entire province.”
“Pending the issuance of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) of the resolution on community quarantine measures that shall be implemented in the province after July 15, 2020, there is a need to extend the effectivity of EO No. 128, as amended, for interim governing procedures,” a part of the latest EO stated.
Aside from Iloilo, the IATF-EID also placed Antique, Guimaras, Capiz, Aklan, Negros Occidental, and Bacolod City under MGCQ.
All the areas in Western Visayas belong to the “medium risk” category which requires “strict local action” including zoning, localized community quarantine, strict enforcement of minimum health standards, and scale-up of health systems.IMT
