Megaworld gives P20M for Iloilo City’s action and response center

Billionaire Andrew Tan’s Megaworld Corporation is extending P20 million for the operation of the Iloilo City Action and Response (ICARE) center in Mandurriao district.

“Gusto ko gid pasalamatan ang presidente sang Megaworld. Ma-amot sila P20 million para sa aton kinahanglanon sa command center,” said Mayor Jerry Treñas.

The five-storey center at Gaisano Iloilo City Center along Diversion Road houses, among others, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO), and police and fire stations.

Equipped with an ambulance, police patrol, and fire truck, the center aims to “bring faster emergency response services closer of the public.”

In October last year, the city government signed a Deed of Donation with Megaworld for the establishment of another ICARE center inside Iloilo Business Park (IBP).

“Kadako sang bulig sang private sector sa aton. Amo na ginapasalamatan ko gid. I think diri ‘ya sa aton sa syudad, mahapos ang private sector magbulig kay nakit-an nila nga very transparent ang aton nga gina-obra,” said Treñas.IMT
