A man in Bacolod City has tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the first case of the disease in the Western Visayas region.
The 56-year-old patient is among the new confirmed cases announced by the Department of Health (DOH) this afternoon, March 20.
Mayor Evelio Leonaria, in a press conference, said the man, who has been confined at a hospital in Bacolod City, is in “stable condition” and “recovering.”
The man had a travel history to London, England. He arrived in the city last Feb. 29.
Dr. Grace Tan of the City Health Office (CHO) said the man is currently in isolation.
The CHO already started tracking down persons who came in contact with the man.IMT
