The government’s free ride service contracting program will end today, June 30.
The stoppage was confirmed by both Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB-6) regional director Richard Osmeña and Iloilo City Alliance of Operators and Drivers Transport Cooperative (ICAODTC) secretary Rizal Alido.
The “Libreng Sakay” program was implemented in Western Visayas on April 19 this year to help the commuting public especially during this pandemic. It also benefited public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers, and operators.
Osmeña said their national office has yet to issue a memorandum order regarding the termination of the program.
The free ride program was one of the priority programs under the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act or Republic Act No. 115, which is set expire on June 30.IMT
