A man and his girlfriend died when their motorcycle was hit by a sports utility vehicle (SUV) in Barangay Pandac, Pavia, Iloilo on Sunday evening, May 29.
The fatalities were identified as Gerald Jade Fuentebella, 29, of Barangay Tacas in Jaro district, Iloilo City and Ma. Leslie Grace Navarra, 31, of Barangay Cagbang in Oton town.
The two, who sustained fatal injuries, were rushed to Western Visayas Medical Hospital in Mandurriao district but were declared dead on arrival.
The driver of the Toyota Fortuner, Marffy Reign Lagamo, 19, of Barangay Pandac, and her two sisters were also brought to the hospital for medical treatment.
Police Corporal (PCpl) Robert John Tang, Pavia Municipal Police Station traffic investigator, said the SUV overtook another vehicle and encroached to the other lane, subsequently hitting the oncoming motorcycle.
The SUV was taveling from Barangay Ungka II, Pavia while the motorcycle was from Oton.
Tang said they are preparing the complaints to be filed against the SUV driver for reckless imprudence resulting in double homicide.IMT
