Francisca “Lola Iska” Susano, who was considered to be the oldest living person in the Philippines, passed away on Monday evening, Nov. 22.
The Kabankalan City Government in Negros Occidental said Lola Iska died at around 6: 45 p.m. due to an undisclosed cause.
Susano just celebrated her 124th birthday on September 11.
The National Commission on Senior Citizens claimed that Susano, born on September 11, 1897, was also the oldest person in the world.
Documents needed for her to be officially recognized as the oldest living person in the world were still being verified by the Guinness Book of World Records as of September this year.
According to her granddaughter, Helen Susano Cachero, Lola Iska was only 14 years when she got married.
She survived the influenza pandemic from 1918 to 1919 and witnessed World War I from 1914 to 1918 and World War II from 1939 to 1945.IMT
