Mayor Reynor Gonzales has issued an executive order restricting the entry of people from the town of Calinog to the town of Lambunao.

“In order to manage the spread of COVID-19 in the municipality of Lambunao, there is a need for a strict enforcement of border restrictions and checkpoints in the boundaries of the municipality of Lambunao and the municipality of Calinog from April 19 to April 29, 2021,” EO No. 23 stated.

Checkpoints will be set up in the entry points of Lambunao, particularly in barangays Maribong, Buwang, Malag-it, Alugmawa, and Cabunlawan.

All Calinog-based public utility vehicles (PUV) are not allowed to load and unload their passengers at any point of Lambunao, including the public transport terminal.

Tricycles from Calinog are barred from entering Lambunao.

Private vehicles, however, can to pass through but are prohibited from stopping at any point of Lambunao. They are also advised to observe minimum health standards.

“Transport groups based in the municipality of Lambunao shall augment to provide public transport services from Barangay Maribong to Iloilo City,” the EO said.

Lambunao residents are permitted to cross the border to Calinog, but they will not be allowed return until the border restriction is lifted.

Calinog is one of the towns in Iloilo province with an upward trend of COVID-19 cases. It recorded a total of 146 infections since the start of pandemic, of which 84 have recovered, 3 have died and 59 are considered active.

On Thursday, April 15, the local government of Calinog ordered the temporary closure of Daewoo-ENC office in Barangay Agcalaga “for further contract tracing and mass swabbing.”

The number of infected Daewoo workers has already reached 42.

Daewoo is the Korean contractor of the P11.2-billion Jalaur River Multipurpose Project (JRMP) Phase II in Calinog.IMT
