It will be a solid lineup for Kaya Futbol Club-Iloilo as they acquired Javier Augustine “Jarvey” Gayoso, a 6-foot-1 former Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles booter.
Prior to their international and local campaigns this year, the Iloilo-based professional team re- acquired Gayoso, a prolific goal scorer and one of the country’s premier homegrown football talents.
“It feels great to be back with the Kaya family!” Gayoso said. “I know they will look out for my best interests, and I in return will work my hardest for the club. My decision to be part of Kaya again is because my family and I believe in the opportunity and exposure playing here will give me—looking at my personal journey as an athlete,” he added.
To recall, Gayoso caught the attention of the public, including local scouters after steering Ateneo with two UAAP Football Titles, two MVP Honors, and four Best Striker Awards in his four-year collegiate career.
Internationally, Gayoso played for the Philippines U-19 and U-23 squads before advancing to the Azkals proper where he was involved in the World Cup Qualifiers in 2021.
Meanwhile, according to Kaya president and general manager Paul Tolentino, the new acquisition brings excitement with Jarvey joining the team.
“We had the chance to work with for only a very short amount of time last season as he was on loan for the Champions League campaign only. We are looking forward to working with him for a whole season this time and to properly integrate him into the club’s system and playing style,” Tolentino said.IMT Sports
