Public utility jeepneys (PUJs) will be allowed to operate in the province and city of Iloilo starting May 18, according to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB-6).
LTFRB-6 Director Richard Osmeña issued on Tuesday, May 12, guidelines for the resumption of public transportation.
Aside from jeepneys, the transport regulator will also allow buses, vans, and taxis to operate in Iloilo and other areas in Western Visayas.
But Osmeña clarified that these passenger vehicles will only be allowed to accept passengers half of their original capacities to
to ensure compliance with social distancing protocols.
The whole region has been reclassified by the Inter-agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) as a low-risk area.
On Wednesday, May 13, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) announced that all low-risk cities and provinces will be placed under modified general community quarantine (GCQ) starting May 16.
Under the guidelines, passenger vehicles are required to impose a no-mask-no-ride policy and to provide free alcohol.IMT
