Taekwondo jins from Jalandoni Memorial National High School (JMNHS) made a resounding return in the 2019 Iloilo City Schools Sports Council (ICSSC) Meet as they snatched 25 medals in Poomsae and Kyorugi events at the school’s gym, Oct. 10.

The Medy Alcarde-trained players were declared overall champion in secondary boys’ and girls’ categories. Of the total medals, the team took home 16 gold, eight silver and one bronze medals.

In the Kyorugi boys, Joe Mark Tabutol, Zandrie Palma, Steve Ian Michael Omelan, Charlie Chua, and Carl Vincent Delacruz clinched the gold medals while John Lenard Mayang and Christopher Aisa got the silver medal each.

The team also made waves in the Poomsae individual boys where Manuel John Refugio and Nikko John Paredes both clinched silver medals while in the Poomsae team, Refugio, Paredes, and Jay Mark Tabutol won the gold medal.

Kyorugi girls’ Vanessa Jean Bungalso, Cassandra Jhen Vicente, Francine Delayre, and Jelyn Grace Domiquel snatched the gold medals before Kyla Andrea Villasis and Crisha Dawn Añolga took the silver medal. Venus Javier, on the other hand, settled for bronze.

Showing their great rhythm and form, Poomsae individuals, Hanna Mari Gamboa and Marice Nicole Sarucam notched silver medals while Gamboa, Sarucam, and Indara Hermosura got the gold medals in the Team Poomsae.

The Mixed Pair Poomsae players got silver medal through impressive finishes of Tabutol and Hermosura.

The team was assisted by coach Eleonora Lucenio and trainers Melcris Villarin, Ian Gabreil Alcarde, and Janbert Caparal.

With the victory, the team will represent in the upcoming Integrated Meet 2019 at the Iloilo Sports Complex. IMT
