Starting next month, members of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and marginalized sectors in Iloilo City will be entitled to discounts on their electricity bills.
“Its implementation is starting August 1 so we are into a massive campaign to spread the word to our consumers,” said More Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) corporate affairs head Maricris Cabalhin.
Under Republic Act No. 11552, only those households with electricity consumption of 95 kilowatt-hours (kWh) or less are qualified for the lifeline subsidy program.
According to Cabalhin, eligible consumers can avail of disounts ranging from 10% to 100% on their bills
“The discount varies depending on your consumption. But they have to apply, this is not automatic,” she said.
For those who consume an average monthly electricity of 81 kWh to 95 kWh, they are entitled to a 10% discount while those consuming 20 kWh and below will get a 100% discount.
MORE Power started accepting applications at their office in Hotel del Rio in Molo district on Monday, July 3.
The power firm also deployed personnel to coordinate with barangay officials for those who intend to submit their applications onsite.
When applying, 4Ps beneficiaries are required to bring their electricity bills and identification cards with their address and signature.
Non-4Ps need to bring their latest electricity bills, government-issued identifications, and certification from their local social welfare and development office issued within the past six months as proof that their income is below the poverty threshold.IMT
