The newly redeveloped Iloilo Provincial Capitol complex is set to be inaugurated on Dec. 2, 2019.
Ilonggo Senator Franklin Drilon, Iloilo Governor Arthur “Toto” Defensor Jr., and former governor Arthur “Art” Defensor Sr. will lead the inauguration at 4 p.m.
Pocholo Paragas, Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) chief operating officer, and Jeremy Barnes, National Museum of the Philippines director are expected to grace the event.
The provincial government alloted P400 million for the redevelopment project, which was started during the administration of Defensor Sr.
In his last State of the Province Address (SOPA) last year, the former governor said the project would serve as his “tangible legacy” for the Ilonggos.
A wall mural at the capitol complex will also be unveiled.
The mural, which depicts Iloilo’s rich culture and heritage, was designed by architects Victor Jacinto, Ryan Angelo Braga, Kenneth Torre, and Jorge Cadiao,Jr. It was sculpted by architects Margarette Pampliega and Albert Pampliega.
The unveiling will be followed by the ceremonial switching on of Christmas lights at the capitol.IMT
