Taekwondo team from Iloilo Private Schools Athletic Association (ILOPRISAA) wrapped up the Western Visayas PRISAA (WVPRISAA) Meet 2020 with a blowout victory in Roxas City, Capiz. 

The Iloilo private schools collected 35 gold, 13 silver, and two bronze medals as they ruled both the Poomsae and Kyorugi events. 

In the secondary girls’ Poomsae, Ateneo de Iloilo’s Elaine Margaret Borres and Central Philippine University’s Cindy Joy Diasnes notched a gold medal each in the individual events before teaming up with Elizabeth Borres for the team girls’ category. Borres also captured gold in the mixed pair event with Clyde Anthony Chua.

“I must say, Iloilo always stand out because of teamwork among players, coaches, and the parents. We come together for one goal and we are united to achieve the goals we set,” said coach Alan Diasnes. 

AdI’s small but terrible jin from Iloilo MVP Gym Cyd Edryc Esmana and Leon, Iloilo’s Joshua Cachero copped the Individual Poomsae gold medals before tapping up with Chua for the Team Boys event.

In the tertiary men’s Poomsae, June Draico Gantalao and Alfie Diasnes won their respective golds, and they also notched the team gold with Zacharay Aguirre. Aguirre also added gold to his medal haul after pairing with Margareth Anne Aguana in the tertiary mixed pair.

Roices Dane Decafe and Klarien Tambong captured a gold medal each in tertiary women’s Poomsae. The two teamed up with Aguana for the team and successfully completed their gold medal finishes.

In the secondary boys’ kyorugi, the gold medalists were Raphael Lloyd Pico, Jed Anthony Morata, Aldriene Earl Horlador, Aldriene Horlador Bill Donton III. Silver medalists were Bob Matthew Villaruz, Ronald Kyle Pico, Laurence Firmeza and Mickael Cerbo and bronze medalists were Xyrus Desierto and Virgilio Tenefrancia III.

In the tertiary men’s kyorugi, Adriano Horlador III, Merson Nazareno, Pave Rynel Bero and Xyrus Ferrer captured the gold medals, while Mark Sendino, Carl Jason Garino, Jericho Sorilla and Ralph Nicole Guaro settled for silver medal finishes.

Mae Anthonette Desalit, Janna Lucelle Ledesma, Sophia Grace Go, Kharla Saberon, Geraldine Mosquera and GN Robles got the gold medals in girls’ Kyorugi, while Kirstin Osorio, Elisha Aguilar and Katrina Mamaril took the silvers. Jannah Velez, on the other hand, salvaged the bronze. 

Gold medalists in the women’s Kyorugi were Estrelarryne Polla Ericca Sotomil, Arianne Pagharion, Cyril Aguirre, Mitch Nuevo, Therese Octavion and Czaryle Dinero, while Scarlett Alfaro Valencia won a silver medal. 

For Ilonggo coaches, they are happy with the turnout of the results and they are looking forward to the national level this year.
