The Iloilo Private Schools Athletic Association (ILOPRISAA) capitalized on their champion experiences as they ruled the 2019 Iloilo Schools Sports Council (ISSC) Meet held in Iloilo City from from Dec. 8 to 12.
Amassing a total of 113 gold, 57 silver and 32 bronze medals, the private schools emerged overall champion of this year’s provincial meet.
The ILOPRISAA secondary men’s basketball squad swept their games in the elimination before retaining its title against 3rd CDSA in the gold medal clash.
Represented by Hua Siong College, the ILOPRISAA squad blasted CenterPhil SilverKnights, 101-73, on their five consecutive finals rematch. The Vincent Conlu-mentored champions were led by Cedrick Manzano who orchestrated the ball for successful baskets.
In addition, ILOPRISAA secondary girls walloped 3rd CDSA in thrilling five sets, 25-12, 23-25, 17-25, 25-17, 15-10.
Trailing from a 1-2 set deficit, the ILOPRISAA squad made clever sets and solid spikes in the fifth set which claimed the title for a 10-peat victory.
Of the total medal haul, the secondary level garnered 81-37-18 GSB while the elementary division collected 32-20-14 GSB.
The 5th CDSA ranked second in the final tally after harvesting 71 gold, 52 silver and 56 bronze medals. Student-athletes from the 2nd CDSA came in near third after totaling 63 gold, 60 silver and 90 bronze medals. Finishing fourth, 3rd CDSA got 57 gold, 64 silver and 90 bronze medals. Fourth CDSA and ICSSC wrapped up the competition with 39-51-61 and 27-50-66 GSBs, respectively. First CDSA had 25-52-54 GSB while Iloilo NHS copped 4-9-11 GSB.
In Demo Sports, 1st CDSA topped the tournament with 12 gold, one silver and four bronze medals. In Paralympics, 3rd CDSA dominated the events with 21 gold, 14 silver and nine bronze medals.
All winners in the just-concluded ISSC Meet will represent the province of Iloilo in the 2019 Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Meet in Aklan on February 2020.IMT
