Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. urged Ilonggos to make use of the Holy Week to meditate inside their homes.
“Usaron ta ni nga time ang kahigayunan nga mabalik naton ang sang una nga waay kita nagahulag. The Holy Week is not really a time for activity. Mapaumod ta anay,”said Defensor.
The governor observed that the Holy Week has become an occasion to go on vacation.
“Sang-una indi amo sina ang mga Ilonggo, waay kita ya nagahulag kon Semana Santa. Siling sang mga katigulangan ‘pahimunong kamo kay patay ang diyos subong’,”said Defensor.
It is safer, according to the governor, to stay home and bond with family members.
“Bal-an ko man nga talagsa lang man may kahigayunan ang aton pumuluyo nga magbakasyon pero para mapunggan naton ang [COVID-19] transmission mas maayo gid ang aton pamalandong ilimita anay naton sa aton pamilya,” he said.
“Mas kinanglan ta ini subong para maproteksyunan ta man aton kaugalingon sa COVID-19. Let us make this Holy week a holy week. Para man ini sa kaayuhan naton kag sa mas husto nga pamalandong,” Defensor stressed.
Meanwhile, the governor reminded resort owners in the province, which is currently under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ), that they can only accommodate up to 50 percent of their capacity.
He also told them to strictly enforce the minimum health standards among their guests.
To ensure the compliance with health guidelines, Defensor directed the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) and local government units (LGUs) to monitor tourism sites and establishments in the province.
“Kinanglan maregulate gid para nga ang aton ginahimo subong indi maguba tungod sang pagbakasayon sa Holy Week,”the governor said.IMT
