Ilonggo netizens were quick to defend Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas as he was labeled as one of the “worst mayors” in the country.
The ‘Idiots in Government’ Facebook page posted a graphic bearing the names and photos of 10 “worst mayors.”
The graphic was posted on April 26, with a caption “Remember their faces and names. Babawi pa tayo 2022 elections.”
Ilonggos came to the defense of Treñas. They slammed the Facebook page’s “baseless” and “malicious” claim.

“Not our Mayor! We ilonggos know what he did for us!”
“Not Mayor Treñas of Iloilo City. He’s doing a great job. Ang tanga mo naman Idiots in Government.”
“Iloilo City is doing well despite of this pandemic. Mayor Treñas should not be on the list”
“How on Earth did you find out nga worst mayor c Mayor Treñas? He’s doing everything he can to contain the pandemic in iloilo. Do some research!”
“Iloilo City is a model city in the fight against covid and one of the first to respond thanks to our Mayor.”
“It’s a baseless claim. Gagawa lang wala bamang basehan.”
“Who did this? Our Mayor here in Iloilo is one of the best. Better do your research po. di nakakatuwa.”
In a press conference on Thursday, April 30, Treñas said the city government is doing its best to combat the spread of the coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19).
“Kon amo na iya panan-awan, ti iya na ya. Ang aton di ya, gina-ubra ta ang tanan. Indi man sya ang madesisyon kundi ang mga pumuluyo sang syudad,” he told reporters.
The nine other mayors on the list were Francis Zamora of San Juan City, Oca Malapitan of Caloocan City, Joy Belmonte of Quezon City, Joric Gacula of Taytay, Rizal, Edwin Olivarez of Paranaque City, Imelda Aguilar of Las Pinas City, Abby Binay of Makati City, Lani Merkado of Bacoor City, and Jimmy Fresnedi of Muntinlupa City.IMT
