Taekwondo jins from Iloilo Mark V. Pinggol (MVP) Taekwondo Gym continue to dominate the national arena as they harvested new medals in the 2020 Smart/MVP Online National Age Group Taekwondo Poomsae Championships over the weekend.
Of the 18 entries they sent, 12 players displayed great athleticism and brought home medals for their team.
Trained by coach Denmark Pinggol, the Iloilo City-based earned three gold medals, courtesy of Viene Marie Dulaca, Andria Margaret Palabrica and Justin Adrian Apura.
“I Im happy that I won. I always remind myself to be confident and to never give up. I was told to be humble even if I win or lose,” shared Palabrica.
The team also bagged three silver medals from impressive performances of Phil Caleb Regalado, Ma. Glaiza Cordero and Crisgel Castro.
“I am happy that Andie rose to the challenges given by our present situation. Her hardwork and dedication, finally spoke. Always grateful to coach Mark for the guidance,” said Iryn, Palabrica’s supportive mother.
Chrystelle Eine Siangco, Cecil Angeli Rentoy, Maria Beatriz Santos, Shanen Anica Feranco, Geon Ivan Dulaca, and Julianna Martha Uy took home the bronze medals.
Aside from MVP, Iloilo City Jocas Taekwondo also captured three medals from gold medalist Clark Zed Abello, silver medalist Tisha Seth Escrupulo and bronze finishers Anje Espanillo.
NEB 1 Taekwondo Academy clinched two medals from Ashton Losaria and Shyn Belaguas, who settled for first and third placers, respectively. A. Diasnes and Antique student-athletes captured a gold medal each through Mariel Angela Siscar and Carl Raymond Pe, respectively.IMT
