Using a powerful punch in the second round of match, Ilonggo boxer Arnel Baconaje knocked out fellow Filipino fighter Ivor Lastrilla in their non-title bout at the Urdaneta Cultural Sports Complex in Pangasinan over the weekend.

The native of San Rafael, Iloilo controlled the match from the first round to the second round, giving his opponent solid punches and vicious attacks that made him bowed out of the competition.

Baconaje got some groove at the ring and played like a pro, resulting for the referee to stop the game in the second round, with Lastrilla suffering from left and right combinations.

Winning his second straight game, the 27-year-old Ilonggo fighter also knocked down Jay Lloyd Quidlat in May, improving his record to 13-4-0.

The Tacloban City-native Lastrilla, meanwhile, dropped his card to 12-11-1, with seven KO wins.

The bout between Negrense fighter Richard Clavera against Christian Araneta in Cebu didn’t not pursue.

The organizers are still mum on the cancellation the match against Araneta, who came from a controversial unanimous decision loss to South African Sivenathi Nontshinga in April.IMT
