With hammering sets and kills, Ilongga Roma Joy Doromal and Gen Eslapor successfully outplayed Negrense Bea Tan and Dzi Gervacio of Petro Gazz in the championship game of the BVR Recharged, 21-15, 21-8 at San Juan, Batangas.

It was a scintillating clash in the finale but Eslapor, a silver medalist in the 2022 Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Futures in Subic and a two-time UAAP champion was hungrier for the crown, teaming up with Doromal to snatch the victory.

Prior to their title, Eslapor and Doromal also eliminated Grace Pharmacy 2’s Cherilyn Sindayen and Raprap Aguilar, 21-13, 21-8, while Tan and Gervacio topped Negrense Bianca Lizares and Jannine Navarro of Delimondo, 21-11, 21-19.

The silver medal finish has turned out to be a good comeback for the Tan-Gervacio pair, who maintained their tried and tested chemistry that resulted in numerous success in the past.

Tan and Gervacio, two of the founders of the BVR tournament, last played as partners in the sandcourt in 2018 where they won the BVR On Tour December Open at the Sands SM By The Bay.

In the battle for bronze, Lizares joined former college teammate Navarro in walloping Sindayen and Aguilar, 24-22, 21-19, to secure the bronze medal in the women’s division.

UST 1’s Dominique Gabito and Alchie Gupiteo, on the other hand, defeated AMC Cotabato 1’s Krung Arbasto and Rancel Varga, 21-15, 21-17, to rule the men’s division via five-match sweep.

Seasoned campaigners AJ Pareja and Henry Pecaña completed the men’s podium finishers following a 21-17, 21-17 conquest of AMC Cotabato 2’s Pemie Bagalay and Julius Sioson.

Ateneo’s Pia Ildefonso and Jana Cane, Grace Pharmacy 1’s Yumi Furukawa and Negrense Melody Pons, UST’s Khylem Progella and Grydelle Matibag, and Gozos’ Derie Virtusio and Criselda Rondina completed the cast.

The men’s division was also participated by DF Bulacan Star’s Evan John Michael Cruz and Alecson Hernandez, UST 2’s Kenneth Salvador and Ron Poja, Ateneo’s Anjo Almadro and Onyl Canson and FEU’s Judi Garriedo and Vincent Nadera.IMT Sports
