Ilonggos will be treated with entertaining basketball tournament this month as the Iloilo United Royals are scheduled to play in the 2019-2020 Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) Lakan Cup at the University of San Agustin (USA) covered gym.
The Ilonggo team and Zamboanga Family’s Brand Sardines are set to clash on January 18, 9 p.m.
In their previous games in Iloilo City, the squad failed to take the win after beating Pasay Voyagers, 56-52, then fell to the Davao Occidental Tigers, 89-76.
According to team owner Julio Jalandoni Javelosa, they will bounce back on the next game as they believe all teams are beatable as long as they have complete lineup.
The Royals six-game winning streak stopped after falling to the Muntinlupa City Cagers at the San Andres Sports Complex in Manila, 96-92.
Despite Muntinlupa taking a 38-25 lead, Iloilo narrowed the deficit to 49-47 at halftime following a 22-11 run, including three triples from Mark Racho.
Aaron Jeruta scored 21 points on four triples for Iloilo, while Alfrancis Tamsi finished with 18.
Iloilo currently sits in fourth place in the southern division with a 15-9 record.IMT
