Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) director Police Colonel Adrian Acollador was relieved from his post due to a series of unsolved shooting incidents in the province.
The relief, which was ordered by the Philippine National Office (PNP) headquarters in Camp Crame, took effect on Oct. 11.
Accollador was replaced by Police Colonel Noel C Aliño, former head of the Regional Intelligence Division (RID-6).
The turnover cermeony was held at Camp Martin Delgado in Iloilo City on Oct. 12. It was officiated by Police Regional Office (PRO-6) director Brigadier Genera Leo Francisco.
In an interview, Francisco said he personally requested to PNP chief Police General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. the relief of Acollador.
According to Francisco, the series of shooting incidents in Iloilo province prompted him to replace Acollador.
These incidents include the still-unsolved killing of three young businessmen in Estancia town.
Meanwhile, Aliño vowed to focus on intensifying police visibility in communities to prevent lawless elements from carrying out criminal activities.IMT
