The Iloilo province’s top cop ordered chiefs of police and force commanders to check cockpits that are licensed to operate online sabong or e-sabong if they have functional CCTV cameras.
This, after the Senate issued a resolution urging the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR) to suspend the operation of online cockfighting establishments until the disappearance of several gamblers is resolved.
Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) director Police Colonel Adrian V Acollador clarified there is no mandate yet on the suspension of e-sabong operations.
“Everything is still a proposal by the Senate, and there is no order from the President nor did PAGCOR conceded to the idea of suspending e-sabong operations,” Acollador said.
While waiting for the suspension order, IPPO will simply monitor the compliance of cockpit operators to safety requirements.
Meanwhile, Acollador reminded his personnel to avoid engaging in e-sabong.
“We have to prevent our personnel from getting addicted to online gambling as it may affect their productivity and focus,” he said.IMT
