The daily number of new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the province of Iloilo has gone down in the last four weeks.

If the cases continue to decrease, Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. said the they will request the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) to downgrade the province’s quarantine status.

The province is currently under modified enhanced community qurantine (MECQ), the second most restrictive quarantine classification implemented by the government.

“We will continue to observe in the new few days, if we have to request for the loosing up our quarantine classification,” said Defensor.

The governor noted that the average daily attack rate (ADAR) in the province is at 8.5 percent while the two-week growth rate is at 43 percent.

“In the meantime, padayon kita sa aton mga surge response,” said Defensor.

Based on the October 18 bulletin released by the Provincial Health Office, the province has 33,240 confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 3,958 are active, 847 have died and the rest have recovered.IMT
