The Schools Division of Iloilo has created an ad hoc committee to investigate an incident involving a teacher who allegedly showed his Grade 10 students a pornographic video.
The pornographic video was purpotedly shown in a Science class in Pili National High School in the town of Ajuy, Iloilo.
A report by GMA News said the incident was confirmed by students who were present during the class.
Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Roel Bermejo on Tuesday, Nov. 26, said he also directed the school principal to submit an incident report as soon as possible.
The Department of Education (DepEd-6) assured the public that the “matter will be dealt with in a just and objective manner strictly adhering to statutory policies in the department.”
“While the department empowers our teachers to effectively deliver the lessons in various approaches and strategies, it ensures that the classroom should not only be a conducive place but also a healthy and wholesome environment for learning,” it said.
“The department is serious in implementing mechanisms anchored on Child Protection Policy where every learner is protected from child abuse and his right and dignity are upheld,” the DepEd-6 added.IMT
