Iloilo remains one of wealthiest provinces in the Philippines, according to the latest Commission on Audit (COA) report.
Among the 81 provinces, Iloilo ranked tenth with P11.2 billion in net assets, COA’s 2020 Annual Financial Report for Local Government Units (LGUs) showed.
Iloilo is the only province in Western Visayas that made it to the top 10.
Negros Occidental, which occupied the seventh spot in 2019, failed to make the cut last year.
Cebu clinched the top spot after posting net assets of P213 billion, higher by P9.5 billion compared to the assets it registered in 2019.
Batangas came in second with P21.9 billion in total assets, followed by Rizal (P21 billion), Davao de Oro (P18.8 billion), Bukidnon (P16.7 billion), Surigao del Norte (P13.2 billion), Isabela (P12.5 billion), Cavite (P12.4 billion), and Leyte (P12 billion).
In terms of revenue, Iloilo ranked eighth with P4.43 billion, followed by Laguna (P4.31 billion) and Quezon (P4.15 billion).
Bulacan registered the highest revenue in 2020 at P5.81 billion, followed by Rizal (P4.98 billion), Cavite (P4.85 billion), Pangasinan (P4.69 billion), Negros Occidental (P4.64 billion), Cebu (P4.53 billion), and Batangas (P4.49 billion).IMT
